We wait for the children to arrive at the Iglesia Evangelica.
The girls are chatting and braiding hair,
the Pastora is unlocking front doors and we help in starting to place chairs.

At the top of the hill stands an abuela,
the most petite and the sweetest of abuelas, one whom all the locals knows.
Once spotted, without a moment’s hesitation,
three girls and the Pastora hurry up the hill to link arms.
They make careful steps right back down the hill,
and straight through the flung wide-open front doors.

Capturing this poignant effort of simplicity:
seeing a need, helping in an instant, doing life together.
