A Last Post

Ten years ago, when this blog began, there were two young girls who longed to own a pink poodle. There were hours, if not days, spent in the imagination, forming games and make-believe, always accompanied by a pink poodle.

When naming this blog, those imaginings seemed worthy of holding onto - the free wonder of a child's mind, the preservation of a child's spirit.

Ten years have passed, and this will be this blog's last post. That same young girl who once galloped rather than pirouetted in kindergarten ballet, has now crossed the graduation stage with high heels and poise.

It is still a wonder how all the little moments tend to shape a life.

I had made myself a promise to read Little Women before the end of June. I read the last page this past Saturday and it ended just like it should, with Marmee's arms outstretched and her face and voice full of humility.

"I want my daughters to be beautiful, accomplished, and good; to be admired, loved, and respected; to have a happy youth, to be well and wisely married, and to lead useful, pleasant lives ... I am ambitious for you ... Leave these things to time; make this home happy, so that you may be fit for homes of your own."

Thank you to each of you who have followed along with our home during this past decade as we've sought to lead our own useful and pleasant lives. It has been a lot of grace and goodness, hasn't it? Thank you for joining in on the journey.

Love, Jessica
