When a daughter, a month before her ninth birthday, shares that she's not beautiful, it can make a mama's heart skip a beat.

So the mama breathes deeps and digs for wisdom and reminds her blond-haired beauty of how she was made with divine design.  That the Power that sets the galaxies in place, and keeps the tides and the seasons constant, is the same Power that pieces her wondrous being together.

And she reminds her that whenever we question beauty, it is really a call to question our perspective.

What is beauty?

And who decides on what is beautiful?

Is beauty found in the comparison, or is it found in the conscious embracing of what already is?

She reminds her that every day, every moment, we get to choose to see beauty... in ourselves, in others, in the spaces around us.

The blond-haired beauty nods and smiles.  She knows this is true, for she's heard it before.  She's just needing the reminding.
